The art of intarsia was originally started
about the fifteenth century, a time when today's stains, dyes, and paints
were not available. The artists of that day used only the
natural colors of wood which were available to them. A hand
rubbed finish was used to bring out the natural colors of the
different types of wood. Intarsia is one of the oldest forms of
art in existence.
I incorporate the same craftsmanship into creating my works of art,
which I like to call "Artistry in Wood".
Some of the wood art I have created can be viewed in my on-line
Gallery.
Absolutely no stains, dyes, or paints are
applied to my work. The finish I use is a Matte finish,
which brings out the natural colors of the woods selected to create
the piece.
